The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Senior Lecturer Mechanical Engineering position, Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and the Built Environment.
Develop and teach courses in the area of Mechanics and Dynamics. Establish and/or maintain a quality publication record. Develop and maintain strong, visible externally funded research program that will contribute to scholarly publication. Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate (in the case of a PhD holder) students. Contribute to both institutionally and professionally through active community services.
A PhD coupled with a MEng. or MSc. or MPhil. degree in Mechanical Engineering. Industrial work experience and registration with a professional body would be an added advantage. At least 3 years of university teaching, research and community engagement or relevant industry experience in the field. Good publication record in high impact factor journals. A good command of the English language. Experience in sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation and management of research projects. Should be able to teach the following modules: Strength of Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Dynamics of Mechanical Systems and Mechanical Vibration. Keen on student supervision (research) at both under- and post- graduate levels.
