POSITION: PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT
LOCATION: PORT OF WALVIS BAY
JOB GRADE: 08
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To execute the accounting duties associated with payroll.
The position reports directly to the Manager: Financial Services.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Act as a liaison between the Finance department and the Human Capital department on accounting matters of payroll.
Compile all monthly salary related general ledger reconciliations, investigate and resolve variances.
Accountable for the payment of employees’ salaries and all third-parties.
Perform monthly and year-end employee PAYE reconciliations.
Reconcile and administer monthly funds statements for employees’ pension and medical aid benefits and resolve any related queries.
Participate in annual and interim audits relating to payroll accounts.
Perform other financial accounting functions within the division.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/ or Finance, or equivalent.
Three (3) years relevant working experience.
Good working knowledge of the SAP system.
Technical knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and principles.
Well-developed knowledge of the Namibian Labour Act, Income Tax Act, Social Security Act and other relevant legislations.
Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Suite.
Must be trustworthy with an excellent eye for detail, complemented by good time management ability.
Organized observation ability, coupled with a well-developed ability to analyze and interpret information.
High level of discretion, integrity, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
