POSITION: MANAGER: EMPLOYEE REWARDS & EXPERIENCE
DEPARTMENT: HUMAN CAPITAL
LOCATION: PORT OF WALVIS BAY
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To drive organisational citizenship by managing a wide range of Human Capital programs and activities encompassing employees’ remuneration and benefits as well as engagement for an improved total talent employment experience, and overall competitiveness. The incumbent will further be required to continuously develop and adopt relevant engaging approaches and methodologies to build and maintain sound employee relations within the organisation and with internal and external stakeholders. Further, the incumbent has a responsibility to manage labour costs within budget provision in support of strategic goals.
The position reports directly to the Executive: Human Capital.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Manage employee relations’ initiatives and activities, ensuring sound advice, efficient coordination and stakeholder engagement.
Facilitate all activities of the collective bargaining and take accountability of the conclusion and approval of the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Engage pro-actively with employees, Shop Stewards and the Trade Union(s) to minimise labour disagreements.
Contribute to positive employees experience through effective, fair and consistent management of discipline and grievances and enforce compliance.
Analyse information and data necessary to define and discern cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
Plan, direct, and coordinate the remuneration and benefits system and processes to maintain fair and consistent remuneration and benefit practices.
Manage the monthly payroll processing, through proactive process planning and coordination to ensure compliance, data integrity and timely and accurate payment of employees.
Coordinate the execution of market salary surveys and advise on remuneration best practices within the port services environment.
Monitor and control the organizational-wide Labour expenses by driving and implementing relevant cost-optimization measures.
Design, develop, implement, monitor and maintain divisional policies, processes and systems, in line with the Namport’s Human Capital Strategy.
Account for the preparation of all relevant reports, i.e. AA reports, and ensure compliance with all company and statutory/ external requirements.
Drive and embed a culture of service excellence among team to build an engaging experience for employees at every stage of their career cycle.
Support the implementation and monitoring of corporate culture and climate programmes.
Develop and oversee the implementation of special projects in areas affecting area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
An Honours Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration or equivalent.
Seven (7) years working experience in the Human Capital environment, progressively driving employee experience; of which two (2) should have been at Senior Specialist and/ or Senior Supervisory level.
Qualification/ Certification in Labour Law, Arbitration/ Conciliation and/ or Global Remuneration or equivalent, will be an added advantage.
Prior professional experience across the Human Capital ecosystem [end-to-end] is a necessity.
Previous exposure in a dynamic and highly unionized environment will be an added advantage.
Strong working knowledge of labour and tax legislation and the shifting needs of employees.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Thorough appreciation of negotiation and of dispute resolution and compensation administration.
Must be solution-focused, analytical, and a critical thinker, with exceptional conflict/problem-solving skills.
Well-developed logical and reasoning skills with an ability to think forward, anticipate change and act accordingly.
Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/ or confrontational situations.
Customer orientation with the ability to meet deadlines within a high-performing work environment.
High level of discretion, integrity, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
