Lecturer (Mathematics, School of Engineering) – UNIVERSITY OF NAMIBIA

The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Lecturer position, Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Engineering and Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and the Built Environment, JEDS Campus.

Teaching of undergraduate Engineering Mathematics and Statistics for Engineers, setting and marking of examinations, preparation of tutorial tests and assignments, leading tutor(s ) as they conduct tutorials, engage in research and publication activities, provide technical assistance to the school , and perform any other duties as may be required.

Minimum of MSc in Applied Mathematics/Mathematics/Engineering Mathematics with at least three years experience in an academic environment. PhD or progress towards a PhD will be a definite advantage. The candidate should possess advanced skills in Applied Mathematics/Engineering mathematics with very good understanding of Statistics and its applications in Engineering. Should be able to manage large classes with good communication and presentation skills; good programming skills in any one of the following languages, Matlab, Python, C++ and any statistical language like R or SPSS.
