Introduction
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To lead a team of mechanical-trained subordinates for the effective and efficient maintenance of all mechanical equipment to ensure that production targets are achieved, at maximum workshop availability and optimum cost, including adherence to job safety and good housekeeping standards.

Key Performance Areas:
•Maintain high levels of equipment availability by maintaining various equipment together with a team of mechanically trained subordinates.
•Lead a team of mechanically-trained subordinates in the execution of preventative and unplanned maintenance.
•Lead a team to inspect, repair equipment, and compile and implement contingency plan to achieve maintenance objectives.
•Ensure that all safety, quality standards are adhered to, including compliance to Company job safety and good housekeeping standards at all times.
•Maintain standards and specifications for subordinates, contractors and suppliers, including the management of contractors.
•Carry out equipment inspections, execute planned shut programs.
•Effectively manage spares, tools and other equipment requirements while controlling costs.
•Order parts, components as needed, in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner, suppliers and contractors, in order to minimize downtime as well as spare holding in the warehouse.
•Review maintenance performance reports and equipment repair history and recommend and implement corrective action.
•Analyze weekly performance to ensure that production targets are achieved.
•Recommend and implement improvements to work practices, methods and procedures in area of responsibility.
•Perform troubleshooting and faultfinding on various mechanical equipment and implement corrective actions.
•Check that the maintenance programs are adhered to at all times, by conducting discussions with relevant personnel.
•Follow up on outstanding / overdue work orders.
•Perform downtime analysis to ensure continuous improvements.
•Revise, submit and control annual working cost budgets in area of responsibility in consultation with relevant persons.
•Liaise with other Team Leaders regarding job progress.
•Liaise with outside stakeholders for any required services.
•Compile report for management to indicate section performance monthly.
•Maintain, install and commission process equipment to the highest standard for maximum availability.
•Receive notification from internal client/end user and ensure continuous production of plant processes.
•Isolate faults identified in areas of responsibility to ensure prompt rectification of fault for minimum breakdown delays.
•Decide and take the appropriate action / necessary corrective steps to rectify the problem to ensure process operations within set standards.
•Determine and implement appropriate remedial action, by implementing necessary steps to fix/address the problem after deciding on the appropriate solution to address the problem, as
per standard procedures.
•Log fault on relevant system.
•In collaboration with relevant plant management, shut down the system and the plant, in an event that the plant is unsafe to keep continue operating.
•Initiate circuit modifications and equipment for improving efficiency to minimize recurrent faults or breakdowns and advise the Supervisor for action taken.
•Set engineering standards to ensure minimal delays and to enhance circuits and equipment for improved efficiency.
•Identify appropriate control strategy in area of responsibility in order to address immediate and long term requirements.

Requirements
Requirements and experience:
•Grade 12 with a Recognised Mechanical Trade Diploma (Fitter, Fitter and Turner or Boilermaker) with 4 Technical theoretical subjects (N3 level).
•7 years working experience of which 3 years should be at supervisory level on mechanical equipment in a maintenance environment.
•Exposure as a Team Leader in a Refinery (Process plant) in a mining environment will be an added advantage.
•Maintenance systems experience, e.g. SAP / On Key.
•Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
