Job Specifications:
A vacancy exists for a Superintendent Metallurgy & Process Control Centre (PCC) in the Processing Operations department, reporting to the Manager Processing Operations. You will be responsible to provide technical support and ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of the processing plant by adopting and implementing appropriate process control philosophies and parameters to meet set production and efficiency targets.
Key performance areas
- Maintaining HSE standards;
- Providing technical and operational support guidance to ensure planned process control efficiencies are achieved;
- Providing leadership on all process control systems, including strategic/tactical planning, design, implementation, changes/upgrades, obsolescence management and support;
- Implementing critical process control safety interlocks for emergencies e.g. power and water supply failures and interpret system faults/ failures;
- Ensuring optimum utilisation of plant equipment and people by planning and scheduling to meet production targets on a daily basis;
- Managing, monitoring and achieve planned major consumable consumption rates;
- Responsible and accountable for detailed budgeting in the process control centre inclusive of labour, materials and capital requirements for process system upgrades;
- Continuously assess performance of overall processing plant against set KPI’s, identify opportunities for improvements and turn it into sustainable and effective solutions;
- Identifying and formulating business plans for key capital projects that will improve throughput and process efficiencies in the plant.
<>Supervising and ensuring that all subordinates complete their tasks according to set plans, defining clear priorities to ensuring production continuity;
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate with twenty (20) points;
- A recognized Bachelor of Science OR Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Chemical/ Metallurgical/ Mineral Processing with five (5) years working experience in a hydrometallurgical processing plant, of which three (3) years should be in a supervisory/specialised level; OR
- A recognized National Diploma in Chemical/ Metallurgical/ Mineral Processing with ten (10) years working experience in a hydrometallurgical processing plant, of which five (5) years should be in a supervisory/specialised level; and
- A valid Code B driver’s licence.
