KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mechanical repair and maintenance of all machinery and equipment
- Preventative maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations to maintain safety and maximise production.
- Resolve operational and technical equipment challenges to minimise production interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures.
- Conduct regular inspections, pre-operational checks of all machinery and equipment.
- Machining, Milling, drilling, & turning work.
- Installation, dismantling, and assembling of machinery & equipment.
- Lubrication and cleaning of machinery and equipment.
- Basic oxy acetylene gas, MIG/TIG/ STICK welding, & Brazing repairs.
- Minor Plumbing installations,modifications, and repairs
- Supervise artisan assistants & apprentices as required.
Build relationships with Stakeholders and provide support as necessary
- Develop and maintain positive work relationships within the team.
- Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the maintenance team, including maintaining punctuality, participating in flexible hours arrangements for Preventative maintenance and occasions of after-hours breakdowns, and providing shift cover & standby as required.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- National Trade (N3) Certificate in Mechanical Fitter/ Fitter & Turning / Millwright.
Experience
- Should have at least 3 years post trade maintenance experience in fitting & turning, of which 2 years in the food industry at processing plants is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of electrical and control systems.
- Competent at basic oxy acetylene gas, MIG/TIG, STICK welding repairs with stainless steel and Mild steel materials.
- Competent at maintenance of mechanical systems including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to develop hazard analysis and risk assessments on assigned jobs.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, maintenance planning techniques including continuous improvement approach.
- Excellent Knowledge of ISO/HACCP/GMP, health and safety procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Fluid mechanics & Hydraulic systems, Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Package), Computerised maintenance management systems, Basic Electrical engineering, Health, safety, and food hygiene.
- Time management, Attention to detail, Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
General
- Valid Namibian driver’s license Code B
- Namibian Citizenship.
