Introduction:
A vacancy exists for an Advisor Procurement Technical in the Supply Chain department, reporting to the Specialist Procurement. The successful candidate will be responsible to perform complex technical procurement services related to the purchasing of services, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established RUL policies and procedures to ensure the timely and cost effective supply of right quality goods and services to the mine / plant. He/she will be required to provide technical procurement specification support on strategic sourcing projects and to contribute to the delivery of commercially favourable contracts delivering optimal value to RUL.
Key Performance Areas:
- Complying with RUL HSE standards;
- Interpreting complex technical specifications; and preparing complex technical bidding documents and the adjudication thereof;
- Providing timely procurement of the goods and services and enable demonstration of best overall value to the internal customers;
- Minimizing procurement administration by utilizing generic supplier contracts and consolidate suppliers when competency analysis permits (Quality of Process);
- Providing performance feedback to suppliers to ensure commitment and reliability from suppliers;
- To ensure accurate documentation of agreement between RUL and supplier, minimizing the legal and commercial risk to the organisation;
- Procurement of goods and services to maximize efficiency and to minimize costs;
- Interaction with customers to ensure delivery of the required level of customer service by developing and maintaining an excellent service culture with customers
- Ensures the development and/ or maintenance of good procurement reputation and image through sound customer relations;
- Management of supplier relationships to maximise service level at lowest total cost
- Assist management with executing cash generation projects to reduce overall mine costs;
Requirements and experience:
- Grade 12 with a B-Tech or BEng in Mechanical Engineering NQF Level 7/8 or a National Mechanical Engineering Diploma – N6 (NQF Level 6).
- Bachelor Degrees: A minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in the mechanical engineering environment dealing with technical specifications and procurement processes or engineering project management experience in a mining environment;
- National Diploma – N6: A minimum of seven (7) years in the mechanical engineering environment dealing with technical specifications and procurement processes or engineering project management experience in a mining environment;
- Experience of large multi-functional and complex multi-site organizations;
- Exposure to Supply Chain would be an added advantage; and
- A valid Code B driver’s license.
